Getting to the Old City from our hotel was an easy 30-minute walk, downhill, along a narrow street lined with shops and several official embassies, then across the Charles Bridge. Getting back was an uphill trek and took a little longer. Days are short at this time of the year in this east-central part of Europe, and the overcast skies contributed to the dim light; dusk began settling around 4:00 or 4:30 p.m.
