Nechama in Mississippi

Sights in Mississippi

Anyone who watched television during the days following Hurricane Katrina saw plenty of images of the destruction caused by the storm. However, seeing such signts on TV, and walking through the landscape, are very different experiences. These photos are just a glimpse of all that we saw while we were working around the Hattiesburg and Bay St. Louis communities, six weeks after the storm.

Wrapped tree Billboards Lost house
Debris wrapped
around a tree
Billboard frames, bent by the wind, along Interstate 10 A house, washed away and deposited near a road
Bay St. Louis Debris everywhere Boat far from shore
Wrecked car, wrecked homes, the Gulf in the background A tree draped in debris Nechama truck and trailer passes a stranded boat, several miles from the coast
